Homophobia and fetishizing

Why do some of you straight women think just bc you are oppressed that it’s okay to be homophobic or it’s OK to fetishize and dehumanize a group of people wtf is wrong with you it’s not a feminist take that you think it is you’re just a fucking weirdo and a bigot. You can’t fight oppression with oppression. Also being homophobic and stereotyping gay men upholds patriarchal values. You are not fighting the patriarchy you are reinforcing it!

Damn, how are you better than a dude who fetishizes lesbian women? You see queer men as sexual gratification and not as human beings, like with straight men toward queer women. They are literally what they hate the most: a homophobic straight dude.

acting like its fine to make gay men as a whole "pay" for what women have gone through is a wild excuse. Being discriminatory to a group thats also affected by the patriarchy , heteronormativity and gender roles. Fetishization hurts everyone its directed towards including poc men, men with disabilities, queer men, etc. Seeing queerness as something that apparently isnt serious enough to be affected by fetishization tells me EVERYTHING i need to know about these people.

This is also such a simplistic view on oppression.
Firs of all obviously women are oppressed by the misogynistic society we live it, and so do gay men, but thinking in a which is "more oppressed" mentality doesn't help anybody.

Also there's a lot of factors, as a latinoamercan i can say Women are very oppressed but gay are way more in danger, so to me this doesn't even make sense?

Your take on comparing oppressions is a pretty common one, but it’s dismissive of folks’ intersections and how they experience oppression and marginalization. It’s helpful to think of it, instead, as a question of who has more marginalized identities or intersections—not as if addressing those oppressions is about competing for victimhood.

For example, when analyzing systems of power/privilege, the groups who have the most marginalized intersections should be at the forefront of any progressive movement. Those movements should be shaped around their needs first. They should be the most protected, most heard, and most supported. When those members in a society with the least amount of privilege are taken care of, everyone else tends to also benefit by default.

Like are we forgetting that men are human too?? And honestly that “it doesn't happen to them” rhetoric doesn't work because you can ask almost any man, they get sexually assaulted wayyyyy more than people think, by men AND BY WOMEN TOO…its insane. These “feminists” (I hate calling them feminists cause they're not) are just supremacists in disguise…they use the word feminist to shield themselves from any sort of criticism, they genuinely hate men and anything they do. Its not misandry but it is sexist…when will they realize the patriarchy also affects men negatively not just women…

Me_for_ president June 19, 2025 5:41 am

They won’t. They think feminism is all about hating men when it isn’t and they are still male centered, because if you have to hate men to a degree, where that’s all you talk about to the point where you excuse racism, homophobia, and fetishization then you are are still centering men in your life.
