I can't help you much with the safety questions as I am not a woman, and for sure there are others with more relevant advice to give you on that. However money management is something I do know quite a bit about. Start practicing keeping track of your expenses using an excel sheet. You can find templates free online. I've been living alone for about 3 years now, just turned 21 last month. and the first year was probably the worst lifestyle. I ate maybe once every 3 days, I didnt sleep at all (a few hours between my shifts and lecture), and I when I had free time I rotted in bed and indulged in reading/watching. Honestly the only advice i can give is to ONLY gets pets when you are stable enough in your life, they're hella expensive to take care of (food, medication, like vaccines and especially if they are little, they'll literally feed on anything they find) they definitely are a source of comfort but it's only if you're also able to take care of them.
