Look into the Palestinian Mandate. I guess you can blame the Brits for this conflict as well =). Furthermore, it is more of a holy war between Arabs and Jews than between two separate countries. Can't help you with that but, I think is stupid to think a war start at XX date, there always YEARS or even DECADES of precedence if conflict violence.
