Something “new” fans ruined?
I feel like when people say “new” fans, they mean when something small starts getting perceived by a larger audience, which kinda makes the og meaning get lost in the translation.
Here’s mine:
- “Cannibalism as a metaphor for love.” in reference to Ethel Cain or Hannibal. NO, YOU FUCKING TWAT.
- Brokeback mountain jokes, the movie, it’s so beautiful and gay person gets shoved into a closet every time somebody makes a joke out of this movie.
- Classic Literature authors, no, you’re not literally Franz Kafka nor Virginia wolf. You’re a 13 year old posting on EDTWT.
- Just the usual irony of something serious/meaningful being the biggest selling point out of something. Like, every generation had a lack of media literacy, but man, idk why it hits so hard.
-Their black and white thinking on morally ambiguous situations.
Like the author make it this way for a reason, its meant to be morally complex and has a situational context that justifies and molds the actions of the characters, new fans reducing everything to good or bad is just annoying

Imma be honest, it's purity culture in many fandom spaces... Like obv don't sexualise characters that aren't supposed to be sexualised but some ppl just lowkey enjoy just some normal gooner art there and ppl are somewhat traumatised... Like woah don't cancel these nsfw artists like they're nsfw they're supposed to be private and ur own choice to in......
