I don't think it's possible for anyone to understand anyone at all. You have your individual experiences and your own personal life, and unless you are extremely lucky, it's unlikely that anyone will actually get you on a level that is sufficient to say they "know" you that well. I felt like that for a very long time, especially in school. It was only when took an extra step to join a capoeira group in my community that I felt like I truly had a connection with people.
