Is anyone getting... tired of BL?
Like, I'll open a title, and be like, ok yeah I can tell what's going to happen for the next two hundred chapters and then I'll just shut it and move on.
Even the "good" ones that everyone swear by. It's the same thing over and over again, and there's no attempt to like even be slightly different. Or, if there is... it's such a cheap attempt that it basically doesn't count. And like people come to me talking about how good said BL is, but when I read it, I can actively list every single one that I have read that is similar in some way shape or form.
The last original BL that I actually liked was Ooe and that's not even a manga, but a visual novel.
And the last time a fictional malexmale couple genuinely interest me was Phainon and Mydei from a game... that isn't about gay people.
Like how is HSR is making me kick my legs, but the yaoi I read for yaoi purposes doesn't?
I'm not asking for suggestions. I have stuff to read, it's just I'm realizing that none of it is actual manga, but either ao3 or visual novels.
I think it's just time to move on. You don't need to hold onto things that don't interest you anymore

I totally get you, that's why I kinda stopped reading "popular" bls and js go through the bl tag and read hidden gems I find, like actual mangas with a moving plot besides sex sex and sex
Istg I feel like every popular bl has the same fucking plot with a misunderstanding arc or a literal rapist as a love interest for the protagonist

Idk why but I keep dropping every bl I start reading these days. I don't think I've properly read a bl for the past few months. Even when I pick up something I wanted to read for a long time, I just don't feel it when I start reading it. I was so excited to read Reunion but it took me 3 whole days to get to the 12th chapter it's boring me so bad id......

Welcome to genre burnout.
You know the tropes and grew tired of them. You might want the BL but you want the kind of BL that subverts what you're used to.
Something in your brain grew tired of seeing the gay cliches.
Fanfics can involve those cliches, but shipping culture as a whole is defying "reality" and the status quo to make whatever ship y......

Honestly, I think you're probably reading the same types of BLs with similar formulas. I would really branch out a bit - read the ones that are story and character focused (these rarely get very big).
I know you didn't want examples but I'm giving them anyways - if not for you than for others who wants something different.

tbh i always feel bored at a certain genre after reading it for a while lol and I'm actually in this phase too rn, I've been reading non-bls except for a very few ongoing one that I'm still have interest in. but I'll definitely get bored reading non-bls and get back to reading bls. then the cycle continue lol

Genuinely, probably just stop reading BL for a while, and only come back if you naturally feel like u want to come back to it (if you ever do) basically, dont force it.
This happens to a lot of people with all kinds of genres
Now from experience, this kind of thing happens to me A LOTT
which is why i have multiple hobbies and tastes, both at once ......
