Love slice of life but my main problem with the genre is how it's so High school centred. Not in highschool anymore and whenever I read a cute coming of age story it makes me feel like shit because I'm not good at letting things go, and wish that i could go back and fix the mistakes i did in school. Slice of life appreciation is music to my ears, my top genres are slice of life, comedy and shounen.
Although I have my personal complaints about comedy and shounen, slice of life has really never done me wrong before and like you said I find slice of life bittersweet which is why I'm so fond of it,

I don't actually read slice of life that often BUT I think ik why ppl like it.
What I mean is in most stories they can make character fall in love through mature scenes or convoluted plots that force them together but they haven't actually done the work on why ML is head over heels for FL and vice versa (same goes for bl too) They can get away wi...... 1 reply
