r*ape in yaoi as a social phenomenon?
just a random (or not) whim but can someone join me with pretending to be smart for a second and like theorized why rape and assault is so rampant and almost (with the rate of how it's going) essential to BL stories? bcos i am genuinely so curious bcos really most of the time the stories doesn't even need it like the plot is genuinely brilliant but it's like there's this invisible force that just compels authors to add a sprinkle of that into the story. is it because rape stories are more marketable? like in an economic perspective it's more profitable for authors to add that because erm the people loves it? do u guys think this theory reflects real life or am i tweaking. i actually want to look at it through an anthropological lense too like; does culture have anything to do with it etc. sociologically what does this all mean.
my lack of expertise is holding me back from deducing anything). so i would really appreciate it if someone can help me.
i want to put a bullet here just in case someone have some theories or answers, if you can drop some research studies too I'd love that very much.
-psychological perspective
-sociological perspective
-anthropological perspective
-economic
-politics
-historical?;?;!!
note: if anything i really want this to be more of a conversation driven by curiosity and less about morally condemning ppl although that is guaranteed i just think it would make the conversation less productive and like slip into digressing from the main objective (god i hope this doesn't get buried bcos i don't wanna pull out chatgpt and help its evolution)
mainly, I think its because most of these authors are bad writers. yaoi as a genre is primarily targeted towards women, and most women love the concept of "fixing" a bad boy. the easiest way to create one, or to turn the readers against a character is to make him a rapist. they have the option of making a character who's an asshole but also super c......
