My favourite book is Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke. It's technically the first book in a trilogy, but I've only read up to the 2nd and it works perfectly fine as a stand alone book so you don't have to read the other ones.
It's about a dragon going on a journey to find a new home for the rest of the dragons after humans start threatening the vall......
