I especially hate when people say that "Sex work is empowering to women". Whether you believe if sex work is real work, because of the simple fact that we live in a patriarchal society with a deep rooted misogynie culture, women cannot be empowered from sex work. There's something fundamentally damaging about being viewed as an object as a human being. I can't imagine anything worse than being trafficked and used for prostitution and the stigma being passed down to your own children- even them being involved in prostitution later on. I think banning anything is not the solution. Just like banning abortions just leads to more deaths and not less abortions. Making sex related industry illegal is just going to make it more unsafe for the workers and have them less protected. It’s just going to force it underground. It’s not going to get rid of it. I can never understand how its "empowering". When its filled with human trafficking, rape, abuse, mental problems, constant shaming. Women should be safe enough that they can work in any industry to earn money without turning to sex work. I have mixed feelings about OF and work where there are choosing it themselves.
