I usually treat them as a passing thing unless I can tell that the other person is looking for a more long-term connection. Then I will gladly do my part to keep an interaction going and check in on them occasionally. For me personally, it's just easier to build stronger friendships with ppl I can meet irl. I still enjoy chatting with ppl online and I do think ppl can build real lasting friendships online but it's just not something I have done.   reply
