There are psychological issues that can develop seemingly without much warning in your 20’s and 30’s. Like schizophrenia. Or they could have had a diagnosis like bi-polar disorder but it can get much more severe during that age range as well. Sometimes, but I think the point of what you're getting at is the grounds of intelligence being linked to mental stability. But in reality, being intelligent does not guarantee wisdom.   reply

There are a lot of really smart people who had severe mental issues. Beethoven had bipolar. Churchill has bipolar. Kurt Godel literally starved himself to death due to paranoia Newton had one miracle year and then went into a neurotic shizo breakdown and those two words I am NOT using lightly. Tesla had uhh OCD. It starts young, the kids called "gifted" in school were called that bc they focused on learning new facts and expanding their vocabulary by reading, while others were socializing.
