anticipate counterarguments by doing research on what the opposing side claims. it's better to come up with possible responses, it's less hassle for both parties as well. frame ur stance as something reasonable and balanced. The biggest argument for me, going into teaching, even though the invention of standarized tests were used at the elementary level for shallow assessment, homework is invaluable a practice.
