No LOL. If anything I think they're more likely to be poorly written cuz they're difficult topics to write about. I also don't think writing about dark topics is inherently more meaningful or praiseworthy than writing about stuff that's more lighthearted and less controversial... Anyways I'm not a harada fan either... sick and tired of harada glaze......   reply

Something that is well written has nothing to do with what genre it is in. There are masterpieces across every genre. But I will say 'dark' is relative, and 'good' even more so. Most of what Shakespeare writes is... good. But it's also dark by my standards. Pride and Prejudice isn't dark. It is a romance comedy, but it's good. That's all th......   reply

The only story that Harada might've written well is One Room Angel ,The other ones are really poorly written and fucked up, tho I have to admit, at least she doesn’t glorify it and actually shows how fucked up it is   reply

I often have this thought about works that tackle more dark/tragic themes too. People often see them and then go 'omg this author's amazing, this story is the best thing ever' but I feel like the theme is just often misused in attempt to make the story seem more sophisticated and then it falls short of that attempt and ends up feeling more complica......   reply

It depends on the way it's written, for harada's case I think it's meant to be uncomfortable... but it also isn't even well written enough like they made it dark but considering harada literally SHOWED the sex scene of this guy with a MINOR. That makes your intention as "psychological" go away. There's a reason why even in real life movies that tal......   1 reply

sometimes authors actively make their stories WORSE by wanting to do dark topics bc they ignore what the audience wanted in favor of making their story some Oscar Bait "look at this it's so important" BULLSHIT and this is a mild targeted rant against the movie Pimp featuring Keke Palmer bc i watched that movie for LESBIANS FALLING IN LOVE NOT YOUR ......   1 reply

Well idk ab Harada bc i read their shit years ago and dont remember, but theres plenty of stories that handle dark topics very well, its all about being educated and a good author Bc just simply adding it to "spice up ur story or for shock-value is gonna make the whole thing a shitfest, you need to understand what youre writing and what youre tryin......   2 reply

Not really, I love hsl by harada but I don’t think they did well with the rape aspect of the story. I think a lot of authors have this problem where they put these dark themes into stories that are purely about sex which makes it come out very sexualised and fetishised. take the most popular yaois as an example - whether they’re enjoyable is ob......   reply

no its how its written, explored, the effects and consequences, how characters deal with it, what the stories represent and is trying to say and i think especially how the author themselves feels about the topic thats makes exploring a dark topic actually well written in a story. theres so much that goes into what makes a story good, but to make a......   reply

Does something having wholesome characters and plot mean is well written? Nah. Do I think there's inherent value in exploring a certain topics over others? Nah. Do I think people automatically will take a work of art more seriously if it touches upon dark topics? Yeah, that's why there're so many award winner movies that are dramas. Human sufferin......   reply
