How the hell people make friends????

My friend count is really low. If I take away family and boyfriend, the number is 0. ZERO. So yeah, that leaves me with mom, sister and boyfriend on my circle of friends.

I have college and work colleagues, but nothing more than that.

Anyhow, my question is: how the fuck are people supposed to make friends????
For instance, I'm shy and a introvert, so I get intimidated when I want to join a conversation about a topic of my interest. And also I feel like if I join, I might be interrupting or invading an existing group of friends.

I recently realized that I need to make friends urgently. Occasionally I feel alone, but the future might be even scarier if I stay like this. What will happen if my bf and I break up? What will be like when I move out of my mom's house?

Honestly, I'm in the same boat. I just graduated college and aside from my bf, haven't made a single friend since. In college, it was easy since I had a roommate and classmates that were all sort of forced to interact with me on a regular basis, but since then I have no idea. im still in hs so after hs life might be different but an approach people does when they come up to me (which works because im still close to them since the day of) was observing the area around us & starting a conversation out of it, because that’s generally what you’ll have in common at first, there’s also complimenting each others a.) fits...... 1 reply

Short Answer: Give specific compliments or questions to people. Long Answer: This question is basically 'how to start a long conversation with a stranger'. As a social introvert, if i meet someone new in a convention or a hobby meetup, thats the first thing that i do after the whole nice to meet you stuff is out of the way.
