Most of this genre’s fanbase, or at least the loudest voices, are classist and misogynist. Female characters get endless hate, while male leads are forgiven for nearly everything as long as they’re attractive. The genre thrives on villainizing women, propping up the “sacred” FL, whose biggest traits of worth are usually money and status.
