(Rant) Why is there so much dark romance masked as regular romance
W/W, M/W, M/M. From Webtoon to manga. There is so much non-con, dv, toxicity that idk what to do. Within the first 20 ch, there's going to be at least one harrasment scene if not straight up assault in way too many webtoons. What is even the goal, to show that our love interest isn't morally bankrupt? Congratulations on not committing crimes? Except when they do coersion (?) And what is even the deal with so many almost r till rescue scenes, when they aren't even going to take it's trauma seriously and bounce back within 2 panels!?
I am so frustrated when I am trying to read a fluffy romance, a constant feeling of when will they pop up a CW makes it so hard to enjoy the story. Ah, now that I think of it, CWs are so confusing these days as well. It could be anything mc getting slapped to straight up torture, and only for the main character because there's no warning when things are happening to support characters.
Do not hit me with the 'this was normal' thing, I was here in the junjou romántica and súper lovers era! I remember how messed up stories were. All I want is for green flag pairings to not be such a minority and hard to find. (with storylines that would take things like SA seriously, if it is even needed in the plot)
