I could not take the "most female characters aren't well written so that's why male characters are more popular" argument seriously because more often than not, they would put so much effort into male characters with white-bread personalities and give them "depth" by creating a lot of headcanons and think pieces, meanwhile I don't see them doing this ever to female characters. Hell, even a BACKGROUND male character is given more popularity in fandoms than main female characters!

i think a rly good example of this is kpop demon hunters, ppl paid attention to the saja boys so much despite them being literal zombies with barely any lines

Hi everybody!

Those who make such arguments against female characters are those who clearly aren't very well versed in media. There are so many amazing female characters written with so much love and depth and they quickly get overlooked simply due to the gender that which they are.

The only reason anyone would be making that argument against female characters is clearly because they don't genuinely care enough about all the amazing women that film, television, comics, and novels have brought to us. It's both misogynistic and an insult to the amazing writers who poured their souls in to such fine characters.

though I can't really say much, being a bit account centered around a no-depth male background character
