From my own life experiences, i probably wouldn't wanna be too nosey in my own childs life especially if there seemed to be nothing that was wrong or off. I mean from what I've seen, having a bf doesn't seem to be a big deal in most countries so i feel like it was the same with the family. Without anything really bad happening or maybe the kid didn't tell them the full story, being nosey and controlling would lead a teenager to be more closed off.
I will admit, the family should've looked a bit more into the bf but again, since dating culture is normal over there, that's why they didn't maybe think so much of it, probably thought of it as just something everyone experiences.
