OG fujos - how did bl change over the years?

Im fairly new to bl (i started reading last year december) since my friend wanted to show me some stories and see if I’d like them. I asked her how long had she’d been into bl and said since she was in grade school. crazy i know.

im only asking this question on mangago since i want to hear about what bl used to be like and how it possibly changed over the past years especially since the pandemic.

How has bl changed and how has it stayed the same?

I'd say main difference is art and source. Back in the day most bl, usually called yaoi, were mostly mangas. Because of that shotas were way more common than now. The rapey plots were just as common though. For some reason we still haven't evolved from such "plots". The art wasn't all that important.
