Because their parents didn't validate their feelings do they think this is normal plus most parents don't think of their kids as a whole another human being but more of just a "kid" they don't think kids are people and they don't get out of that mentality ever soooooo yep. (I overthink their thoughts for why they do what they do so ik now)
