I have very wavy hair with random strands of actual springy looking curls, only thing I do is scrunch my hair dry after using either a sulfate free or clarifying shampoo, and sometimes I use a curl defining leave in conditioner while I scrunch. I wash my hair once a week.
(You might have fine hair so heavy products weigh down your curl/wave patter......
