How do I fix it? I have a possible meet up with some friends in DECEMBER. D E C E M B E R. And I've been stressing about it so much I can't do anything. Sometimes we don't even meet until JANUARY. That's THREE FUCKING MONTHS FROM NOW and I'm struggling to breathe. I have to go because every time I skip an event because of social anxiety it's just solidifying that events are scary and makes the next one worse. I've known these people for 7 or 8 years now and still would rather meet with a group of starving lions.
I used to have a little social anxiety, and the best thing to do (for me) is to not give a fuck and then regret it later. But I usually have a blank brain in my social izing so I dont really know.
If with people, the best thing to do is just talk about what you guys have been up to lately, thats the best way to start it.. And then if it gets sile...... 1 reply
If you're old enough to drink, alcohol does wonders for me. Otherwise, medication. I was able to get buspirone from my primary care physician super easily but recently switched to propranolol because it's a lot stronger (makes you feel emotionally numb). I would probably start out with something like buspirone and go from there. reply
just go and shortly say hi and smile (you can fake it) then find a safe space and kill time there, if its draining you too much, just pretend that you're suddenly sick and go home, at least you show up
