I've been seeing a trend of women putting less effort in their looks tho, like not shaving body hair and wearing baggier clothes, or just anything to not appeal to the male gaze and I love it.
As a woman who puts less efforts in her looks and 90% of my life lives in the oversized hand me downs from my brothers I can attest to it being difficult at times, especially if you have sisters that are very feminine. I have never worn makeup ever in my life and I have no idea about it, I have never shaved my legs ever in my life and when I adress it and with fellow women about it I am often met with the sentence "Well you have light hair! If my leg hair looked like that I also wouldn't shave!" Which I find sad because it takes away from the point I am trying to make. I often get compared to my beautiful sisters who really spend alot of time on their looks and I always say that I am fine with how I look. So you even know how many women I have had telling me "wow you are so brave for not wearing makeup!" I think that is so sad ://
Men have always put less effort into their looks than women throughout history, but in modern times it's become worse. This whole toxic masculinity alpha male bs is making men think using a facial cleanser is gay. Unless you're specially a fashionista and now what to look for/how to dress, or you're like an alt guy, most men's fashion is soo boring and plain. Altho there's still a lot of guys that look great, but they're mostly queer men, like the drag queen Plastique Tiara who still looks amazing out of drag. Or Asian male celebrities.
