Am I too woke?
Okay so, I’ve been on this site for god knows how long. I’ve read tons of manga, manhwa, manhua, and novels — I’m not illiterate. I’ve even published stuff on AO3.
What I don’t get is: why do so many people just forget about the victims of SA in BL and yaoi?
I’ve come across so many works that are cute, fluffy, and funny on the surface. But if you look closely at the details, there’s clear SA in there. And the comment section is just… so forgetting... Like, sure, maybe it’s “needed for the plot,” but is it really necessary?
And when you actually point it out, people start blaming the victim instead. Like… are we even reading the same story??
The readers know exactly what they're reading and whether it's problematic or not yet they will never admit it because hey who would want to admit they enjoy romance tropes of 'rape victim becomes lover'?? No use pointing it out, just give the manhwa a low rating and move on
