18th birthday

Jus wanted to come on here and share my experience
Cause it’s been 5 days since and I had the worse day ever
1. My birthdays
Most of my birthdays I don’t ask for anything, cause I alr have whatever I can ask for
But this being my 18th birthday I thought I would get something special
I even made a list
I got nothin

2. College
I asked for a laptop, mom said no
Until and unless I get accepted into a college
So then it’s not exactly a birthday gift is it

3. Drinking
Prior to my birthday, I asked if I can start drinking after my birthday
Not hard liquor specifically, I just meant in general

Context- every family gathering, they sit down to drink

I thought she’d say yes, but she was like no, ur not an adult at 18, drink after 21
I was hurt, cause I thought she’d agree
Cause over the years she has given me some of her alc

4. Driving
My mom never offered to teach me driving
And wanted me to go to driving school
I can’t cause my id has the address of my old state and not my current one
Paper work is ass in India

5. Come to Sunday
It was my uncles house warming
I was staying over there
I woke up in sweat, cause my aunt was cleaning the bathrooms so the door was open and my uncle gives everyone a hard time about the ac air escaping
Since I like sleeping clean
I don’t like waking up in sweat
So my mood was off since before I opened my eyes

6. My cousin
I don’t usually talk to my cousins
Most people who have siblings or are introverted don’t talk much

She is younger than me by one month, she asked for permission and was having champagne. Drinking with my mom.
It pissed me off

Then it came to the topic of driving, my mom never offered to teach me driving but told her
Yeah sure come over I can teach both of y’all together

7. So I cried
My mom said- it’s my first time being a mother

But it’s my first time living too and I want to experience stuff

At least know that it’s big deal I’m 18

Now come to gifts- I settled for something cheap, a mini jbl speaker
I asked if mom or dad could buy it
Rather I said pls buy since I want a birthday gift

Then no one ordered it
So I just took moms phone and paid for it

I feel like buying whatever I wanted now
Cause I’m now 18 and no one gave me anything
