I'm generally so confused all I said was that I don't see why would be a problem to have male MCs in otome games and this random girl tried to explain something to me I guess or prove me wrong? But i honestly don't understand how what I said was so wrong like was it???

The most frustrating comment is from the bisexual guy that made it about fujoshi and how they "don't grasp that many bisexual men lean more toward women." They are acting as if loving the opposite sex is not the easiest thing you can do, and somehow he is acting oppressed about it by fujoshis. From what I have seen, the people who keep asking for otome games to have male MCs are queer men. Telling them to shut up because they have BL is stupid. BL is not made for you to self-insert; the MC will have a story of his own and a character of his own. Otome games, on the other hand, most of the time they are for self-inserts. I try to play bishoujo games, but I hate how they force me to be male every time.
like Kau said, it's confusing. I think overall the issue is that like, otome is kinda by definition a presumed female MC. an otome with a male character kinda... wouldn't work definition-wise? bcus if there was male romance options, it'd be a BL, and if there's female, it'd be like a standard dating sim (idk if theres a term for it tbh). there have recently been some otome-like games with gender neutral protags, like obey me! has otome elements?
Pls recommend some for pc, my broke ass cant with pay to win ones
I'm not understanding any of these arguments tbh. But as far as I know, otome games got male capture targets and the occasional female capture target for female players.
Sometimes otome games don't specify the player of the genre, but generally the MC is assumed female since it's aimed towards those fans. So I guess what they're saying is if an otome game has a male MC and the capture targets are all male, then it's not otome, it's a BL game. And fair enough I guess. Since I'd also argue bishoujo games are the ones with female capture targets for male MCs/male players. You can probably blur the lines a little, like I said some otome games have lesbian options. But that's probably what this person is trying to say.
And by "generally the MC is assumed female" I mean most otome games feature a female MC.
