Danza de los diablos tends to freak people out. My parents and my sister all dance it, have their masks and Chivarras. According to my mama they're meant to ward off evil spirits and etc.
From my own research it's an amalgamation of African, indigenous, Chilean and Spanish culture.
My mother is as catholic as they come, so she's very precocious ......
