Bl fandom and misogyny

The harsh treatment of bl ukes shows how deeply male centered and how deep internalized misogyny run in its audiences. There is a clear double standard towards the ukes. The ukes are expected to act within a certain standard by the readers. The readers uphold a higher standard towards the ukes. They expect them to be the bigger person in any sort of conflicts. They are more prone to scrutiny than the semes. There is a clear double standard to how the uke gets treated and criticize and it reflect/mirror how a lot of women would get treated in real life because society favors men and what they deem is masculinity. This also ties in with gender roles that are unknowingly/subconsciously being label onto the seme and the uke. The uke is assigned the role of the one “receiving,” which aligns him with traits coded as feminine. Some readers, particularly straight BL fans, may describe the uke as “hot” within the story, but their attraction is similar to how they might admire similar traits in women without being sexually attracted to them. The seme is assigned the role of the "giver".Readers, especially those who are straight find it easier to see or imagine themselves being with the seme and actually being attracted to the seme. This also extend even when the seme is being painted as submissive or a crybaby because that role that is being given to the seme is one that aligned him with masculinity which is why they sympathize with the seme and justify their actions even when the seme does harm towards the ukes. It's also fascinating how one would defend the seme. Some readers would read a story where the seme has abuse and rape the uke and chose to equalize their actions as "They both did bad things" when what the uke does do not warrant a pay back in abuse or rape. Readers would also read how careless the seme actions has affected/interfere in the uke life physically and mentally but once they see the uke fighting back or doing 1/10 of what the seme did to them. They jumped to hate on the ukes because what the seme did was framed as an "act of love".The seme could be committing unforgivable crime such as SA, abuse , rape , murder but as long as they show remorse or cry a little. They get sympathy from the readers. What the seme do get romanticize while what the uke do get policed. The seme cloud also have the worse personality+do horrible stuff and the readers won't bat an eye because to them "It's just fiction." but show them a ukes that has personality that the readers do not like or not up to their standard. The uke would get scrutinized with people wanting the uke to be hit,abuse or abandoned. The ukes are also expected to be a perfect victim and even then there would still be people invalidating that the uke is a victim. Another interesting things is how people chose to defend rape in story in general. Instead of saying how "It is just a fiction and not everybody support that irl." Which is more valid, they chose to bring up the victim flaws and mistake that they have done .As if they are implying that what the victim did are what warranted them to be assaulted and I believe that SOME people does so because it gives them validation on the fact that who they are defending is not the only one that is bad. This also apply to how some people might simp for a toxic/rapist tops and see people insult or criticize the tops so they bring up every little flaws and mistakes that the ukes have to feel better about liking the tops.
The "it's just a fiction" is a whole other topic. I am fine with people reading whatever they want and understand that reading something and liking a story that has non con is not equal to supporting rape, sa in real life but I just can't help but notice this pattern that some of the readers has because it reflect so much on how women get treated in real life. Seeing people rewarding the seme for his flaws and the harm he does get dismiss especially when it is frame as an "act of love"while the uke get blamed and hated on is just something I can't stomach.
