Don’t get me wrong I love BWAT and her works. But she really needs to tone it down with the trope where characters meet when one of them is a child and then end up in a romantic relationship once that child becomes an adult.
Like I get it it’s not technically pedophilia or grooming, esp when they only met once and then reconnect later after a timeskip, but it's still weird and ppl should be aware of that. It's fiction and all so I don't really care that much tho still felt kinda icky but don't try to normalize it or act like it’s okay in real life. Personally, I would never date someone I first met when they were a child, even if they’re now an adult.
I’ve noticed BWAT using this trope more often in her recent works.Like In "Taming the Tiger" side stories, the MC literally waits for Beom to turn 18 so that he can sleeps with him,which is super weird. And don't even get me started on "Miscreants and Mayhem?" I didn’t even try reading it bc the relationship is between a stepfather and stepson eughhh
so the dad basically raised him, and I saw panels where the top was lit calling the bottom “dad" !?? Hell nah vro
it feels like she’s undermining potentially great stories by adding these weird dynamics.
Smyrna and capri and dear 00 have been really good so far and prolly my faves from her

i only have liked smyrna and capri, and dear 00 is also good, taming the tiger is okay but not a fan personally. to me BWAT is the korean version of chinese author "meatbun" (writer of erha/husky and white cat shizhun, yuwu/remnants of filthy, bab/case file compendium) meatbun's works also feature an "age gap" with younger top, and tops are really young. (in erha the top/bottom meet when top is 16, bottom 26, and they're student-teacher, and in bab, the bottom is top's therapist, and the top rapes the bottom when he's 18 and bottom is like 32) BWAT also comes off as problematic when it comes to age gaps. i don't like the younger top/older bottom age gap bc it's still grooming and/or wierd if they are tops. being a "top" don't make you any less prone to grooming. they're treating it the same way as younger boy/older girl dynamic is perceived. it looks like girl is a "badass" and boy is "smitten" and has moved "past" age factor, defying the patriarchy when it clearly is not like it. if anything the woman is taking advantage and getting praised as well??
in this story, "blossoms of white night", the top is 9 and bottom is 22 when they first meet (in this picture) and they get married, and then when top is 24 they meet again. now some people say it's not grooming but if i was 9 and got married to someone, even if i meet them 15 years later, in my mind they were my spouse so it's already in my head. i consider it grooming or atleast brainwashing. a child don't know what marriage for convenience is, so it's stupid to do that and brush it off. also, top is shown as virgin and not knowing how sex works (between 2 men and possibly even between men and women) while bottom has slept with others so sexually experienced. this to me feels like such a big power imbalance. if top is a king tho, and bottom is some real big fighter of other kingdom or smth...it wierded me out so much T_T.
