writing help
was writing something and I can't write the ending right so I need some help+I want to talk about it to unintelligent noise in background or else I'm going to drop it from writer's block. so "A" is the head of a planet that eats other planets and "B" is Earth and that is being eaten. when "A" orders for a planet to get eaten it takes like a billion years kay? but "B" is human so he only lives for like 80 years. also when "A" orders for a planet to be eaten it turns the planet into a kind of slave nation, but they still have some functions. "A" has a law that allows some slave labor to get onto the bigger planet, so "B" killed someone, took their name, and used their identity to get onto the bigger planet. "B" after watching the humans on earth be pos, he believes that everyone is the same and he wants to stop the planet "A". he can't do anything cause he's weak, so he wants to solve the reason why the planet needs to eat other planets. "B" comes to conclusion that humans and aliens are similar physically so he sets up a deal with a factory that uses illegal slave labor to give him some of the bodies and he will make drugs to keep them quiet. so "B", a human, experiments on humans to make cure for "A"'s planet problem. that stuff doesn't matter, what matters is "B" realizes he needs to leave "A"'s planet but he can't because slave. so he tries to get himself kicked out. "A" catches him and gets horny for him cause I believe in horny "A" propoganda mkay. so "A" catches "B" and makes a lot of excuses to lock him in his room for security reasons. but when "A" and "A"'s team go look into "B" they realize that "B" was doing something so they research into "B". "A" uses this as an opportunity to give an excuse to keep "B" there longer. the entire thing is just "A" gaslighting himself into believing he is a good leader and "B" is there for professional reason. "B" lets "A" touch him like brushing hands, and stuff happens and when "A" runs out of time before trial, he panics and starts to be more bold and so at some point they sleep in same bed (not sexually). around this time "B" admits to "A" what he was doing and why he did it and says that it's lonely. "A" offers to have "B" stay with him, but "B" says only if "A" wants him to. the problem is while "A" seems very unprofessional, he is very responsible (more complicated than that but it is ok for this purpose). keeping "B" damages trust and some other stuff I forgot to add but just know he can't keep "B" unless he really wants to be unprofessional. so he instead lets "B" go, sneaking him out.
problem I have is at the end "B", who has given up everything to "A" by now, thinks "A" is letting him go because that's what "A" thinks is best for him. but "A" actually thinks that he's doing it because he in the end chooses his planet over "B". "B" will die in 80 years and he knows the path "B" is choosing is one where he will die alone and with the same loneliness he talks to "A" about. "A" thinks that if he really loved "B", then he would keep him there (which is not true) even at the cost to the planet he is responsible (it's not really responsible but it's similar) for. "A" doesn't tell this to "B" though because he knows that by then, if he tells "B" will leave and telling him will leave a bad memory and hurt him severely. "A" to make himself feel less bad, as a last gaslight, lies to himself by following what "B" believes in (that he is doing this for "B").
I don't know if I should make "A" gaslight himself all the way to the end or if I should make him admit it to himself at the end. the current one I have he admits to himself, but it's kind of weird because the entire thing he lies to himself over and over again. this also isn't about lying to "B", he always lies to "B" about this. it's just does he lie to himself? or do I make it so that he admits it in the end to himself?
HII i love writing and brainstorming this kind of stuff so i'll do my best to add in my own input!
if i'm understanding this correctly, the events in your story are already set in stone, and you're simply stuck on how you want your character A to leave the stage. it seems to me that this story is going to have a bad ending regardless of which opti......
