Should straight men be allowed to play roles of queer characters?

As always when a new bl series begins trending the topic whether it's fair or not for straight men to get the roles of gay characters gets brought up. Given now that heated rivalry has been out people have been attacking the actors with claims of "Queer baiting" and that an openly gay man should've gotten the role rather than the current actors.

Honestly, I never understood this discourse. When my favourite webtoon/novel gets adapted the only thing I beg for is please don't hire wooden stiff actor and for the writers to not butcher the storyline. I don't care about their visual even. So, if the actors respect the project, are inline with the character portrayal, and ofcourse can ACT(bare m...... reply
