The answer is sexism. Even women who write Shoujo manga. There is a lot of internalized sexism. I wish there is more shoujo action manga out there with reverse harem, but alas, very few.   reply

The genre has become trashy because of the so many trashy works, but for each type I have found the one or two that I quite like because of the way it's handled. She's probably my favorite female protagonist of all time.
