gatekeeping isn't gonna help anyone

okay, i can’t anymore, so i’m just going to say it.

a lot of people here love looking down on so called “new gens” for asking questions or not being able to find things on their own. i will admit, you could consider me as a "new gen". i started reading mangas/hwa around 2020 on some random shady site and from there i found out about sites like mgg and b@to through those same shady sites because they literally stole content from them (pirates stealing from other pirates very ironic). b@to became my main from 2021-2023 and i fully transitioned to mgg mid 2024.

i don't understand how some of y'all can be so arrogant and conceited, these guys are only asking for new site reccs bc of the instability. let’s not pretend social networking is some kind of moral failure bc it exists for a reason: it helps filter info when search engines and public sources fail. ppl always have and will continue to find things through other ppl.

and before anyone starts with the usual “google is free” speech, i did and followed exactly what you smartasses keep telling ppl to do. i googled, i scoured reddit and went digging on my own. i'll be brutally honest, literally none of what i found comes close to replacing mgg and b@to. there's issues w quality, community and most importantly the damn huge library. speaking this a bl reader, other sites only have the popular shit slop which i'm not into so i can't compromise jack.

that said, i do understand where the other side is coming from and why y'all are paranoid. i get the fear that if the wrong information spreads to the wrong hands, sites will get nuked faster, really am not dismissing that. what i am calling out is the condescension bc some of y'all be acting wayy too smug and superior like saying “bro don’t tell" or replying w “google is free”, shit doesn’t protect anything. i did my research, these sites thrive on large userbase and gatekeeping does the opposite of what y'all intend.

additionally, big publishers and companies don’t discover piracy sites bc some random user mentioned them on social media. you can bet your asses that their legal teams already know they exist w/o anyone yelling abt it. but pls, keep reporting those bitches who mention this site on twt or t1k t0k bc those posts actually help in creating a sense of urgency to the big wigs by signaling scale and popularity....just don’t pretend you’re stopping discovery. at best, you’re accelerating attention toward smth that's already known.

i love mgg sm and i’m frustrated enough at this point that if this site goes down, i’ll prob stop reading mangas altogether until i find an actual replacement and not 6-7 half baked backups ppl keep hyping just to feel smarter than everyone else. y'all can think i’m an entitled little shit if that makes you feel better. i genuinely don’t give a flying fuck.
