Kinda. Like someone else said, theres no way authors and legal sites dont know about it but if people just go around bragging about reading illegally, sharing screenshots and dropping sites, it makes A LOT of noice. Authors feel disrespected (and we already seen where that takes us) and legal readers complain. More importantly, companies have the b......   1 reply

I dont think it will actually work, no. But being loud and proud on social media about pirate sites triggers certain people enough to seriously report the sites to be taken down. So what I'm trying to say is we dont have to flaunt reading things illegally cause it becomes a blatant/in your face disrespect towards the artists and the people who actu......   1 reply

Yeah no because I was wondering that too, like no way all the big legal sites and authors have no clue what mgg and bto are and are just finding out through people randomly namedropping them on social media. Like they've known our sites for ages, idk what's the point of trying to gatekeep them any longer   1 reply

The only reason I am gate keeping it because people are sharing this in social media. I think as long as people don't mention this or other pirated sites this site might survive but tbh I don't know you are right though you can see every illegal site on google and access its contents with or without any account so there is not much point but this w......   reply

I think gatekeeping isn’t really going to work. It might sound silly, but there’s a Korean illegal comic site that reportedly has more visitors than Netflix, yet it still hasn’t been taken down. Which is weird, because it’s Korean, you’d think it would be easier for Kakao to deal with compared to an international site. The rumor is that ......   1 reply

Here's my two cents on this... the point of gatekeeping is not to avoid publishers knowing about a site. the point is to avoid the site getting too popular to the point where it's gabbing the attention of normies that would've bought the official chapters had they not known about a completely free alternative because when that happens that's when ......   1 reply

No it doesn't. But I don't think Years ago we used to hide these sites for gatekeeping solely. More than gatekeeping I just don't like this recent trend of being entitled enough to brag about reading illegally on a platform where countless Authors and Artists whose Works you're reading illegally are present. It's obnoxious behaviour.   reply
