Might i add the perspective that a abusive dad is more realistic than a dude commiting mass terrorism through magic fires? People are more okay excusing those behaviors because they aren't something they'll ever experience in their life. Depends on what hits closer to home, ig. When do stories actually bother showing the aftermath of a murder, like the people left behind, the life unfulfilled, etc? For most I read, it feels like killing off npcs in a videogame. Ppl react to murder if they actually care about the charas being killed off. One piece killing ace off was heart-wrenchin......   reply

A lot of people are desensitized to morbid things like murder. So i think because of that it's easy to look at it and not feel a thing cause it's not you or someone you know. One thing people can relate to is bullying and sexism. It's easier to feel something about it cause you can put yourself in that spot but can't really relate to murder. There......   reply

It's just a bias thing, whether it's a trait a character has or does not have. If a character is associated with a certain group or descriptor, they're going to catch all the heat from people who don't like whatever that is, vice versa.
