You lost me in the last paragraph. Some people might have read those stories when they were too young or had no awareness about what they were reading, and then realized how fucked up the themes and representation were. Some might have simply changed and grown. To point out problematic tropes and be disgusted with casually (and romanticized) thrown......   2 reply

Yall are so annoying with this conversation over and over again and i try not to engage but whoever posted this specifically sounds particularly retarded. Comparing true crime to romanticized SA/incest is intellectually lazy. One literally analyzes harm, recognizes crimes as harmful and condemns it. The other romanticizes it. Collapsing them into ......   reply

I feel like equating normal with good and abnormal with bad is wrong overall. You can be a well-adjusted person who has had abnormal experiences in life. It's ok to acknowledge that reading/watching rape, incest, violence, or gore at 10 years old is not normal. It doesn't mean that person is a bad person or will grow up to do bad things. I also don......   1 reply

Sorry? Watching documentaries and true crime stories that were actually made for awareness and expose of horrible leople isn't the same as reading or watching stories that romanticized abuse, pedophilia and all those things you mentioned. You'd be disgusted if you hear the story in real life, and it actually happening because they literally realist......   reply

There has always been some sort of ground overall we're a human being could recognize right or wrong. Take a step back and realize what the actual important thing is to focus on. ......   2 reply

I think actively seeking out stuff like rape and incest does making you weird and romanticising the relationships yeah defintely. But i have no problem with those kind of stories as long as we can identify the relationship is wrong and when the author can aswell. When its rape, abuse and torture with no plot besides the mc getting hurt, then you ar......   reply

I do agree that it's normal since it's in our nature to be curious. It's not "moral" to enjoy content that glorifies or romanticizes rape, but it can be acceptable if the reader is aware and capable of distinguishing fetishization from representation. Personally, I've read plenty of books and manhwas that feature rape, and I've read a few that rom......   reply

it's okay not be normal... you don't automatically become morally bankrupt by being subversive i've read and tbh enjoyed engaging with "degenerate" media from a ridiculously young age, i also have a very strong moral compass and i'm self aware enough to know that both those acts are contradictory. being exposed to sensitive content before you can ......   reply
