I think is the first time hearing this actually happening. In my country is the same, bc exams are basically considered a document you can NEVER turn it in if its written in pencil. Im more shocked that a professor told you it was okay to do so To take any exam is basically going "do i have my ID, pen and paper" a 100x before even going in the room......   1 reply

I think it's crazy you went to an important exam unprepared. How could you not have a pen????? He was also crazy for telling you to do it in pencil but you're both to blame here.   1 reply

I'm not sure which country you're in but in mine, it is made explicitly clear that tests and examination answers are to be written in non erasable or bleed-able black pen. the question here is why didnt you have a pen if you know theres going to be an exam? using a pen for exam is the common sense. i think this one is kinda on you gng. even if the instructor said no what were you gonna do anyway? theyre not gonna wait for you to get a pen and rewrite your whole answer   1 reply

i agree with most of the comments like why you don't have a pen in university...why you need to rely on other people and you already know your exam schedule, be prepared next time. for me it's really basic to bring calculator, 2 pens, pencil, eraser and ruler in bag   1 reply

icl you should've asked the professor for a pen, and you definitely should've at least checked you had a pen before the exam was starting. in future, pack spare pens! its an exam bro ( ̄∇ ̄")   reply

It sucks that you’ll receive a 0 but think of it as a learning lesson. Tests are normally never allowed in pencil because students can erase and correct answers after receiving their graded test in order to contest the grade. That’s why “final” answers must be in pen.   reply
