autism in women
hi guys, i was wondering (ik this isn’t reddit but i feel better asking here lol) - are here any women diagnosed with autism?
i’m diagnosed with bpd, anxiety disorder and depression, but i’ve always felt like it isn’t really what i’m experiencing (i mean the bpd part), and i’ve always felt very different ever since childhood. i’m very sure i’m definitely not neurotypical, at least.
i was kinda contemplating whether i should get myself tested for female autism or not… what is your experience? i’m 24 this year and have been diagnosed with bpd (and the rest listed above) for years now.

Female autism? Does having autism needs a gender? I'm seriously asking
I think they are a women, and wants to talk with women that has autism as men and women deal with everything differently so I think they wanted to know what are some clear signs.
i’m not really that familiar with it to be honest, but i’ve heard that women are sometimes diagnosed with bpd rather than with autism, because some women are better at masking than men. idk if i’m correct though, if not, i don’t mind being corrected.
nah you‘re right, it‘s a common thing to happen
got a bpd diagnosis after 1 session at a (male) psychiatrist, meanwhile my therapist is 99.99% sure that I‘ve had autism since I was a child, but got ignored
the symptoms for women also show up differently than for men (due to societal pressure, masking etc) or get misinterpreted, so most women easily fall through the autism test, that‘s made for men
Do you have a therapist/good psychiatrist, who‘d be willing to take a look at it?
