not all rapist characters are complex characters, but some can be. the people saying "yall just hate a complex character" should reconsider what theyre saying, because its valid to hate a rapist. it fries me when people try to defend a character thats done something considered morally wrong/questionable. its one thing to like them, sure, but to try and convince others that theyre "just hating" when theres an entirely valid reason... bro... you might like cigarettes but its ok for people to hate them; theyre bad for your lungs. if this even makes any sense. tldr: yeah bro
and they keep defending and making excuses about them too calling them a peak character when they literally just fucked up somebody's life. and when you point out the rape, they'd be like understandable or "i wish it was me" cause the character is "pretty or handsome" (theyre actually fucking hideous)

quite so. i think that characters who are rapists can be complex because the thought process that leads up to that decision is... well, for lack of a better word/synonym, complex. but just because the thought process behind rape is complex doesnt mean it was written that way. not all authors think it through that much. and even when a character is complex that doesn't mean theyre well written or that the topic is handled well either. it all boils down to: never open the comments. i avoid them like the plague because i never agree with anyone else's opinion lololololol
not entirely about the misogyny thing but like ive read that one supposedly "good" manhwa about a side couple that got their own story. and then i found out that in there original story, the male lead was a rapist (raped the og mc btw) and i pointed it out in the comment section. and they were like, "he was just misunderstood" and kept making excuses about his behaviour ???

You know you can't hate male characters they're actually the victim of fandom misogyny unlike the stupid women getting in the way of my yaoi ship
