also, people self-censoring themselves so easily is such a deeper issue that they don't even realise. super easy to control and being fed anything these sns corporations want them to know. and it is actually serious, esp with how ai companies are buying rare books in bulk, then destroying them. who do you think will give us that information, or any information, in the future? either privatised companies or privatised governments. the correlation between people self-censoring en masse and blindly believing in anything they read online has to be a circle.
I guess these terms originated after social media apps started to censor and delete the actual words, but I agree that nowadays people use it for everything and it takes so much weight from the words.
