While I don't really "self ship" any more, I don't think it's wrong or weird either. It's just people using their imagination. For some people, it's a form of escaping a reality they are unhappy with, even if just for a little bit. From loneliness or unhappiness, or for whatever reason. You make it sound like rape in stories and porn are exclusive to Asian cultures. Americans and Europeans come up with some pretty fucked up shit too. And it is even worse that they do it, because like you said, it is considered taboo. So they PURPOSELY create images that people consider "wrong" but read anyways. I've seen people use other's lists and reading history against them in arguments. One in specific was an argument about toxic stories and rape. One person who said it is just fantasy kept getting ganged up on and people were being really nasty to them. No matter what their opinions, nobody has the right to bully a real person.
