Not a trope, but long haired men. Most men with long hair IRL (at least from what I've seen) don't care for it properly. It's often frizzy, and looks nothing like the long silky hair those Elves got in Lord of the Rings.
Also, anime styled bangs... it just doesn't work irl.

I'm a Nursing student and a clinical extern. Just got off a 12 hour clinical shift, almost got kicked in the face 2 times, had to clean off shit stained beds multiple times, and my legs are giving up

I've seen 2 student and TA relationships IRL. They're all adults but one of them has a noticeable age gap and that one seemed to have a pretty strong and healthy relationship, the other didn't last long though.
I'd say as long as they're both adults and they can both communicate well in the relationship, it may work.
