I don't think it's weird. But it also depends on whether it's closer to 3 or 1 year. Also on whether you're in similar situations. Is he in your class? If he's graduating he's gonna be in college/work/whatever soon while you stay in school and that creates difficult power dynamics. But in general i don't think it's weird.
