Kind of? I never really get to know most artists personally apart from their work. I would say I still love their work but, if it's a bad person looking at a piece just reminds me of the bad things they did which, of course, makes the work hard to enjoy anymore. It's the same for anime though. A lot of people just like what's popular but, that popularity is what gives the genre exposure so it becomes rare to meet people who actually like the genre because they like it and not because it's what's trending.
