The classic Enemies to Lovers, especially where the characters got to the point where one of them kisses the scars they caused on the other's body (At the time when they tried to kill each other) as a silent apology and I LOVE IT.

You're not wrong, your boyfriend was, however, wrong. The Doctor is just doing their job, so don't feel bad if you got a shot in a butt despite your boyfriend's wrong claims. If it's really necessary to make you feel better and you're okay with it, then go ahead. This seems like a red flag.
