I know what you mean , so long and empty
it's for easy scrolling, it makes it simpler to read and more engaging for others because the spacing can indicate transitions/fade outs depending on how long it is like you see in anime. I still do prefer the traditional one though.
the formatting on these kinds of manga are so weird, so much blank wasted space between panels
