i think he believes that the section chief is the direct cause for his heartbreak when he sees his first love devoted to someone else. i kind of feel like he is just taking it out on the section chief though

Can someone explain to me why he’s so upset? I’m having a hard tike wrapping my head around the whole subject. He was obsessed with this guy in college but then is heartbroken that he has a bf , but he has an infatuation with the section chief but once he finds out that he’s his ex crushes ex bf why does that suddenly change his perspective??
