Thank you for putting it into words! I had the same thoughts and I agree. Ettsen is such a beautiful and tragic character. The scene of him and the princess by the tree was just, wow. My heart goes out to him. All of the male leads have a lot of potential, but I have a soft spot for Ettsen.

Yes exactly!!! I’m so glad I’m not the only one who felt this for Ettsen...I really don’t understand why she thought it would be okay to just say “live your life”...she acts as if she’s moral and such but doesn’t take responsibility for him.
I can't be the only one who feels horrible for him. Sure, our current FL suffering cause of him wouldn't be right since she's not the OG princess, but the dude's had his family killed, kingdom destroyed and was essentially raped by the princess and used as a tool. He also seems to developed some truly tragic, twisted feelings towards her because of the disconnect between the abuse he suffered at the OG princess' hands and the empathy and regret the FL shows him. Now, as he views it, the princess who ruined his life and abused him so thoroughly doesn't want to interact with him anymore and is telling him to live his life even though he doesn't really have one because of her. Add to that Yuriel a girl he loved who ended up betraying him and the poor guy can't catch a break. No one in this novel has suffered like him yet the readers are clearly biased and unsympathetic.
