I think anyone who re reads it would see how similar Martina's treatment was to Thereodes! I feel like that's either foreshadowing or irony, but either way her being reborn at least must be connected to her actually having powers. To the contrary, my above theory may be incorrect, and her power might just have been to be reborn which would be also a symbolic power as the last of her people; "her people can never die because she will always be reborn" kinda thing.

I know I'm stupid for asking but, Is Thereode, Theodore's reincarnation?
I'm at Chapter 6 and am afraid to go further since I usually only read the "I only loved one person in my entire lifetime (or in every lifetime)" kinda stuff
And my heart would not be able to rest if she said she loved Theo back then and is now falling for Thereo, and they end up not being the same personnnn

Its not been explicitly confirmed/denied yet. I would be willing to bet that he is the incarnation who has lost memories. I have a gut feeling the blonde friend is the prince or some high ranked noble in the modern day and is a descendant of the advisor Martina left the empire to when she first died. They look too similar and the Blonde guy's father seems kinda important. All that is to say, the blonde guy may be a second male lead but gut feeling suggests he'd only be second. I think thereode is theodore and so we have theo/tina being a "fated" pair kind of thing.

Y'know you actually gave Theodore a good motive for doing what he did. But then again it leads me to wonder why he didn't tell her from the very start the reason he wanted her to kill him? Did he think it would hurt her if she knew the truth? But then didn't he think it would hurt her worse by doing the things he did to get her to mercy kill him? Was he also asking her to kill his aunt and her descendants as well? Probably even more reason he should have told her the truth. Also didn't she curse him right before she killed him? But all in all it's a good theory. And Theodore did try to sacrifice himself at the beginning so he's not like the MLs who 'protect' the FL by forcing her to give up something.

For my theory, I don’t think Theodore knew that much to be worried for his aunt, I think maybe he felt something was off with himself. I think the curse just starts out as aggression before any fur grows, so in my theory, he’s just scared of himself. And no, I’m saying she cursed the Blanche line when she ended up with Waldo, long before she grew close to Theodore. The curse takes time to mature in a person. Waldo just didn’t live long enough for it to manifest. I’d believe a decade could have passed between her putting Theodore on the throne, have all her war accolade, and then their relationship deteriorates as the first signs of the curse appear

Your explanation about how Theodore believed the curse manifests makes sense of the kind of personality he seemed to have and would have had (if this all holds true)!
Also.... I knew when you were talking about her cursing him. I was just saying that I think she also cursed him just before she killed him. What was the point of the author showing her second curse but not the first in the case that your theory is correct? I just wondered if there was some kind of explanation I'm missing that would answer that question.
I’m re reading everything and basically, I think it’s possible the Blanche bloodline may have been cursed, and Theodore was the first person to really experience the curse. Like, Martina was treated like a beast the same way Thereode is. Her entire family is killed, like Thereodes by the curse, she is raped the first night she is captured....kinda? Like Thereode was supposed to be? And she is locked in a room against Waldo’s supporters and knights like a beast left to rampage, like Thereode. It’s said Martina didn’t have any magical powers, but unknowingly, before she established a relationship with Theodore, she may have accidentally cursed the Blanche bloodline WHICH flows through Thereode too because of Theodore’s paternal aunt, Celine.
I think Theodore asked Martina to kill him because he was turning into a beast. At the time, Martina didn’t know, and Astana still doesn’t know, she was the start of the curse. So to force her, the only worthy person in his eyes, to mercy kill him, he framed her people again to force her to kill him, effectively stabbing her in the back by hurting her people, and betraying her heart by making her kill him.
Now that they have both been reborn at the same time, idky, Tina will be able to break the curse, BUT WILL HIS MEMORIES RETURN?
